The SF Giants had a wild start to Tuesday night's game against the Colorado Rockies. Rafael Devers slugged yet another home run and Rockies pitcher Kyle Freeland started barking at him which led to the benches clearing for both teams.

SF Giants have benches clear in first inning against Rockies
Devers ripped a homer into right field and admired it as he made his way towards first base. Rockies pitcher Kyle Freeland was not a fan of Devers' reaction and bat flip which led to him yelling at Devers. Devers yelled back at Freeland which caused benches to clear and Giants third baseman Matt Chapman went out and shoved Freeland and shortstop Willy Adames also shoved a member of the Rockies.
This resulted in both Chapman and Adames being ejected from the game and Freeland was ejected as well. It was an absolutely wild way to start the festivities in Colorado.
The ejections put the Giants in a very tough spot as Chapman and Adames are hugely important players for the Giants both on offense and defense.
The Giants had to move Devers to third base, the position he used to play for the Boston Red Sox, for the first time all season and they had to insert Casey Schmitt, who was drilled in the elbow by a pitch in yesterday's game, at second base, Dominic Smith is playing at first base and Christian Koss was moved to shortstop.
This is a big blow for a Giants team that is playing good baseball right now. To lose two of their most important players and the entire left side of their infield because of this dustup is a shame. It does reflect well on the team that Chapman and Adames were so quick to go out and defend their teammate because Freeland was out of line for barking at Devers.
Devers has been on fire at the plate as of late and his first inning homer was his 30th of the season. He is finally looking like the player the giants thought they were getting when they swung that huge trade for him.
The Giants have been on a roll as of late and they are even inserting themselves back into the playoff race. They need to take advantage of games against bad teams to do that so one hopes losing two of their best players will not affect that.
