The SF Giants are set to square off against the Colorado Rockies on Monday but they will not see a pair of familiar faces in Thairo Estrada and Kris Bryant. Both of them are currently on the IL for Colorado.

It has been a rough year for both players and the Rockies as a whole. Estrada has dealt with injuries since spring training and is on the IL with a hamstring injury which will cause him to miss the rest of the season while Bryant has missed practically the entire season with a back injury.

SF Giants will not see Thairo Estrada or Kris Bryant vs. Rockies

Estrada appeared in 39 games for Colorado in 2025 and slashed .253/.285/.370 with three home runs and 21 runs batted in. As for Bryant, he only appeared in 11 games for the Rockies and recorded six hits in 39 at-bats.

Yet, both Estrada and Bryant were members of the miracle 2021 Giants and made valuable contributions to the team during their respective tenures.

Estrada proved to be a nifty player to have at second base. He brought solid defense to the table and was also a valuable asset on offense from 2021 to 2023. His best season with San Francisco came in 2023 as he slashed .271/.315/.416 with 14 home runs and 49 runs batted in along with 23 stolen bases in 120 games. He also won the Willie Mac Award that season.

Unfortunately, 2024 was a much more trying year for him as he struggled at the plate and became a complete afterthought by the end of the year before being demoted to Triple-A.

As for Bryant, the Giants acquired him via trade in 2021 as they tried to hold off the Los Angeles Dodgers for the NL West crown. He helped them do just that by slashing .262/.344/.444 with seven homers and 22 runs batted in for San Francisco.

There was some talk of potentially bringing him back in the offseason, but the Giants have to be incredibly glad they dodged that bullet because Bryant has been a mess ever since he signed with Colorado. He has been injured pretty much his entire tenure and has not been all that effective when he has been on the field.

The Giants will be looking to continue the good baseball they have played as of late against a Rockies team that sits at 39-98. With how inconsistent and weird this Giants team has been this season, it would be equally believable if they went in and steamrolled the Rockies or if they got swept. Either way, they will not see these two familiar faces in Denver.
