The SF Giants and Colorado Rockies are squaring off in Cactus League play today. Logan Webb took the ball as the starter for the Giants and there was a funny moment that occurred in the bottom of the second inning with former Giant Thairo Estrada.
On the first pitch of the at-bat, Webb missed wildly and the pitch ended up going behind Estrada. There is currently no video of the pitch available, but Giants radio play-by-play announcer Joe Ritzo described the scene and said that Webb appeared to be smiling after the pitch and apologized to Estrada.
The former Willie Mac Award winner grounded out to shortstop a few pitches later and was retired, and Ritzo said he and Webb seemed to exchange amicable words near the pitcher's mound as Estrada headed back to the Colorado dugout.

If one didn't know any better, they may have thought that Webb and Estrada had some sort of beef dating back to Estrada's time in San Francisco which caused Webb to send a not so friendly message in the form of the pitch. However, it seems Webb just lost control of a pitch at a weird time which at least made for a humorous moment between the two former teammates.
Estrada was a Giant from 2021 to 2024 and he was a solid player for the team for most of his time with the team. In those four seasons with San Francisco, Estrada slashed .254/.303/.398 with 44 home runs and 180 RBI. He also won the Willie Mac Award in the 2023 season.
Those numbers were brought down a bit thanks to a rough 2024 season where his offense fell off and his batting average was just .217 in 96 games. This resulted in the Giants putting him on waivers in September.
The 29-year-old signed with Colorado in the offseason to be their starting second baseman and try to bounce back after his rough 2024. Thus far in spring training he is showing signs that he may be on the rebound. Coming into Monday's game against the Giants, Estrada was slashing .478/.480/.565 with seven RBI.
Estrada was a really solid Giant so it would be cool to see him have a nice bounce back season in Colorado. Let's just hope he does not have too many revenge games against the Giants in 2025 and let's hope that Webb's errant pitch does not light a fire under him whenever he faces San Francisco.
