The 2025 MLB draft will be here before we know it. MLB Pipeline dropped its most recent mock draft on Thursday, with the SF Giants taking power-hitting outfielder Ike Irish out of Auburn University.

As is always the case, the team's first-round pick will be an important one. This is especially true for the Giants, as they will not have a second-and-fifth-round selection in this year's draft.
Willy Adames rejected a qualifying offer from the Milwaukee Brewers in the offseason. When the Giants signed him to a seven-year deal, it came with a stiff penalty.
The normal penalty would have been the loss of their second-highest pick and $500,000 in next year's international free agency cycle. Since they exceeded the $237 million Competitive Balance Tax in 2024, they forfeited their second-and-fifth-highest selections in signing Adames.
The Giants not only lose the picks, but the corresponding slot values as well. It is why they have one of the lowest bonus pools in this year's draft.
San Francisco holds the No. 13 pick, which has a slot value of $5.5 million. That is about 65 percent of the team's total bonus pool. They need to make this one count.
Jim Callis of MLB Pipeline believes that Ike Irish has a strong skill set while being seen as a rising player in this year's draft class:
"Perhaps the best combination of hitting ability, power and discipline in the college crop, Irish is climbing boards."Jim Callis
Callis also connects the Giants to several high school shortstops, along with a left-handed high school pitching prospect.
Irish is in his third year with Auburn University. Plus, he spent last summer with the Chatham Anglers of the Cape Cod League. Irish has faced off against SEC competition over the past three years, and that type of profile does tend to adjust to pro ball quickly.
The 21-year-old college prospect is listed as an outfielder and catcher, but he has seen considerably more time in the outfield this season. He is slashing .352/.457/.674 with 16 home runs and 52 RBI in 232 plate appearances. This includes 12.0 percent walk rate, 14.7 percent strikeout rate, and .264 ISO. He can also run a little bit, with 10 steals in 11 opportunities.
