The 2025 season is under wraps, and it's time to grade every SF Giants player from 2025. Without further ado, let's grade every member of the Giants starting rotation in 2025 who made more than 20 starts in the season.

Grading the SF Giants starting rotation pitchers in 2025

Logan Webb: B+

Webb has always been a better first-half pitcher (fun fact - 2021 was the only season in his career that Webb posted a better ERA post-All-Star break). This year, however, it was a bit more jarring. Webb was an All-Star and looked like a Cy-Young contender in mid-July, with a 2.94 ERA in his first 20 starts. Over his final 14 starts, he posted a 3.65 ERA. Throughout the season, he had a 3.22 ERA (third-best of his career) and a career-best 2.60 FIP. He led the NL in innings for the third straight year, at 207.

Robbie Ray: B

Ray's post-All-Star break implosion was one of the biggest factors in the Giants' collapse in the second half. Ray was dominant early on, with a 2.65 ERA and an All-Star nod in the first half of the season. Over his final 12 starts, his ERA ballooned to 5.54, and he had a 2-5 record during that stretch. Still, the Giants overall played well with Ray on the mound. They were 22-10 when he pitched, and his season ERA still landed at a respectable 3.65.

Justin Verlander: B-

After a very shaky start to the season, Verlander pulled it together and had a solid season in San Francisco. He finished with a 3.85 ERA in 29 starts, giving San Francisco 152 solid innings. Don't be fooled by his 4-11 record. The Giants failed to provide the veteran with any run support.

Take for example, the nine-game stretch between April 20th and June 29th. Verlander had a 3.31 ERA, but an 0-4 record, with the team going 2-7 in those nine starts. In fact, Verlander allowed two earned runs or fewer in 18 of his 29 starts. In those 18 games, the Giants had a 7-11 record. The Giants should have interest in bringing him back for 2026.

Landen Roupp: B-

In his first year as a member of the Giants' starting rotation, Roupp was solid. He made 22 starts and threw 106.2 innings in his second season with the big-league squad. He finished with a 7-7 record and 3.80 ERA, though his 1.481 WHIP was not fantastic. Still, he gave the Giants a chance to win almost every time he took the mound, and for a fourth starter, that's about as much as you can ask for.

The Giants will need to add more pitching depth for 2026, but they have a solid basis to build from with Webb, Ray, and Roupp all set to be back next season.
