Wrapping up our player grade series, let's look back and grade the primary SF Giants relievers for their efforts in the 2025 season.

Grading every SF Giants reliever in the 2025 season

Randy Rodríguez: A

Rodríguez was easily the best member of the Giants' bullpen while he was healthy. He earned an All-Star nod, appearing in 50 games and notching a 1.78 ERA with just four saves. It is a shame he will likely miss all of 2026 due to Tommy John surgery though.

Tyler Rogers: A

Before he was traded to the New York Mets, Rogers might have been the Giants' best reliever in the bullpen. He posted a 4-3 record, 1.7 bWAR, and an ERA of 1.80 in 53 appearances in San Francisco.

Erik Miller: A

Miller proved he is capable of being a fantastic piece in the bullpen. While his season was cut short due to an injury in early July, Miller was incredible early in the season. In 36 games and 30 innings pitched, he went 4-1 with a 1.50 ERA. His presence in the pen was badly missed in the latter half of the season.

Joel Peguero: B

The rookie only appeared in 17 games, but he looked great over that stint, finishing the year with a 2.42 ERA and a 3-1 record.

Camilo Doval: B

The Giants needed more out of their closer, Doval, in 2025. He was not awful, landing at a 1.20 WHIP, a 3.09 ERA, and a 3.22 FIP. But the 27-year-old was not the All-Star version of himself from 2022-23. He finished with 15 saves, his fewest since his rookie season in 2021.

Joey Lucchesi: B-

Lucchesi had a surprisingly solid season in the Bay. Despite the 0-1 record, he finished with a respectable 3.76 ERA and 3.97 FIP.

Matt Gage: B-

Gage appeared in 27 games for the Giants, 25 out of the bullpen. He posted an elite 2.66 FIP, but the ERA landed much higher, at 3.91. Still, the 32-year-old was acceptable for the Giants in 2025.

Ryan Walker: C+

Walker led the team with 68 appearances out of the bullpen and led the team with 17 saves. However, he was mostly just fine. Like Gage, his FIP (3.30) was much better than his ERA (4.11). Still, he finished at just 0.1 bWAR, making him one of the least valuable closers in baseball.

Spencer Bivens: C

Bivens was a reliable innings-eater for San Francisco. In 54 appearances, he gave the Giants 81 innings of 4.00 ERA ball. Nothing to laugh at, but nothing to fall in love with either.

Tristan Beck: C

Another solid multi-inning reliever, Beck tossed 56.2 innings in 31 appearances. He finished with a 1-0 record and a 4.61 ERA.

Jose Butto: C-

Butto finished the season with a 2-1 record and a 4.50 ERA in 21 appearances. He didn't play much, and was not incredible when he did after being acquired in the Rogers trade.

The Giants may need to completely rebuild their bullpen in the offseason so they need to figure out which pieces are worth holding onto and which ones need to go.
