All season long, SF Giants fans have had to watch from afar as Kyle Harrison looks like he is developing into an ace with the Milwaukee Brewers. Thankfully, it seems like the Boston Red Sox are taking more heat for trading Harrison than the Giants are.
While the Giants are 20-30 on the season, the Red Sox are 22-27 on the year and many thought they would be a team to look out for in the American League East. Instead, they have already fired much of their coaching staff and while they are a little better than the Giants they have probably been a bigger disappointment so far.
This one doesn't bother me because the Giants got Devers out of the deal, it should really bother Red Sox fans though https://t.co/96kXLXGiVO

They also gave up Harrison mainly to get infielder Caleb Durbin from Milwaukee. Durbin is hitting a dismal .168/.247/.245 for the Red Sox right now so it is easier to criticize them for the trade when Harrison currently sports a 1.77 ERA on the season and just shut down the Chicago Cubs with seven innings of shutout ball while striking out 11 Cubs batters.
It’s still early in the year and maybe Durbin will turn into something for Boston, but they absolutely have to fell worse than the Giants for getting rid of Harrison.
Giants at least got a proven slugger by trading Kyle Harrison
At least San Francisco got Rafael Devers out of the deal. Yes, he looked like a shell of himself early this season but he has since turned things around and looks like the formidable presence at the plate the Giants thought they were getting.Â
Devers is hitting .241/.291/.403 with six home runs and 20 runs batted in on the season which isn’t awful considering how bleak things looked in April, but the Giants still have to be hoping those numbers come up over the course of the season.
Some Giants fans definitely wish the Devers trade could be undone though. It’s hard not to wish that Harrison was doing what he’s currently doing with the Brewers in a Giants uniform, but it’s fair to wonder if San Francisco could have even unlocked his potential the same way Milwaukee has.
Both the Giants and Red Sox look bad for trading Harrison away but at least the Giants can share some of that egg on the face with Boston. It never looks good when the yolk is entirely on your face so Boston has at least helped the Giants out a bit in that regard.
