Giants' outfield celebration takes new form as MLB is bound to step in

They are getting creative, that's for sure.

If the San Francisco Giants keep on winning games, Drew Gilbert is going to be a very busy man. After he and likely co-conspirator Harrison Bader (even if he denies it) were reportedly told to knock it off with the NSFW celebrations, they are finding ways to get more and more creative with it.

On Saturday after a win against the Chicago White Sox, Gilbert, Bader, and Casey Schmitt recreated the famous Key and Peele Hingle McCringleberry skit that involves a football player getting penalty for one too many thrusts.

Then on Sunday after a victory they followed that up with some thrusts from Gilbert knocking Will Brennan and Bader down like bowling pins.

It’s not a bad problem to have. If the Giants keep on winning games that means Gilbert will have to keep on coming up with new thrust-themed celebrations. However, he has to know he’s playing with fire especially if he already got reprimanded once for it.

Will anyone try to make the Giants stop thrusting after victories?

That begs the question: where’s the line? Who is drawing it? Is it Buster Posey? Greg Johnson? Larry Baer? The ghost of Frank Robinson who likely wants anyone involved in these celebrations suspended without pay? We know manager Tony Vitello has subtly endorsed the thrust so he's not going to stop them.

Would MLB get involved at some point? Obviously they want to keep MLB a family-friendly product but they also have to be loving the recent viral trend of people taking their shirts off at games, a trend Giants fans recently partook in so they’d probably be wise to not be the fun police and let Gilbert do whatever he wants as long as he doesn’t cross any egregious line.

I was fortunate enough to be at Sunday’s game and you can bet after the team won my eyes went straight to what was going on in center field. What they’re doing out there is entertaining and that’s a positive in my book. Maybe so long as it’s not a group thrust session it won’t ruffle too many feathers upstairs and Gilbert and Bader can keep on doing their thing in the outfield.

Keep in mind, this is the same franchise that embraced the “rally thong” on its way to a World Series title so if the team is winning and Gilbert is thrusting then just about everyone will be happy.
