Former SF Giants reliever Tyler Rogers has reportedly found a new home for the next several seasons. According to Jeff Passan of ESPN, Rogers has agreed to join the Toronto Blue Jays on a three-year, $37 million pact, with a vesting option for a fourth season.

Jon Heyman of The New York Post adds that the total guaranteed money can increase to $48 million with that vesting option. Rogers' deal is one of the most lucractive contracts handed out to a reliever this offseason.

The Blue Jays have been the most aggressive team after nearly defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. This is an organization that believes its competitive window is open, and is spending to keep that window open for as long as possible. They deserve credit for that.

Rogers joins Dylan Cease and Cody Ponce as free-agent additions made by Toronto this offseason. They have also expressed interest in Kyle Tucker, per Robert Murray of FanSided.

Interestingly, it felt like the Giants and Blue Jays were not too different in recent offseasons. Both had tried to land some of the top names on the market and failed to do so. The narrative seems to be shifting on both sides, as the Giants landed Willy Adames last offseason and the Blue Jays have arguably become one of the most appealing landing spots this winter.

The Blue Jays' latest addition gives them another high-leverage arm in the bullpen. Tyler Rogers has been remarkably effective and durable since debuting with San Francisco late in the 2019 season. In that time, he completed 424 innings, which is second behind only Scott Barlow (439.1 innings) in that category.

Rogers has put up a 2.76 career ERA, which is 27th among qualified relievers since his debut. He is right behind Josh Hader (2.75 ERA), and ahead of Aroldis Chapman (2.92 ERA) and Edwin Díaz (2.93 ERA) in that category.

The 2025 season was more of the same for Rogers. He pitched to a 1.98 ERA in 81 outings split between the Giants and New York Mets. Not surprisingly, he led all MLB relievers in appearances.

The Giants sent the 34-year-old reliever to the Mets right before the trade deadline. They received Drew Gilbert, Blade Tidwell, and José Butto in that deal.

Rogers had a broad market this winter, and the Giants had interest, but they were convinced that he would find a bigger deal elsewhere, according to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area.
