The SF Giants traded away left-handed pitcher Kyle Harrison as part of the Rafael Devers trade back in June. It took a while, but Harrison has finally made his debut with the Boston Red Sox as he pitched several innings in relief on Wednesday.

Ironically, Harrison made his debut with the Red Sox against the Athletics at Sutter Health Park which is also the home of the Sacramento River Cats. Harrison has obviously pitched many games there when he was in Triple-A with the Giants organization.

Harrison looked solid in his debut as he pitched three scoreless innings while allowing three hits and striking out two batters. It was his first appearance in the big leagues since June when he was still with the Giants.

It was a little odd that it took so long for Harrison to make his debut with Boston which is why we took a look at it last week. It was even more odd when Boston called up a different left-handed pitching prospect before Harrison which made one think maybe the Red Sox were not that high on Harrison anymore.

Maybe it was just a timing thing but he is now with the Red Sox as they look to secure a spot in the playoffs. Boston has been great since they traded away Devers and Harrison is really the main part of the deal since they already got rid of James Tibbs III and Jordan Hicks has been terrible.

As of right now, both sides are probably pretty happy with the trade. While it took a while for Devers to get going, he has been a huge part of San Francisco's recent hot streak and is looking like the Devers who earned a massive contract from Boston.

As for the Red Sox they have been playing great and have a great chance to make the playoffs so it seems like both teams have benefitted from the trade. Obviously, it will take years to fully appraise the trade but there is a real chance that both teams could make the playoffs which would have seemed unlikely at the time of the trade. A Giants-Red Sox World Series is probably a little too much to ask for, but after this roller coaster season anything seems possible.

Harrison is a Bay Area kid who seemed like a good guy so one hopes he has a great career in Boston and it is nice to see he is finally getting his shot.
