The 2025 MLB playoffs are in full swing. The Wild Card round has concluded, and some familiar former SF Giants players were in the mix. Let's take a look at how these former Giants did in the first round of the playoffs.

How former SF Giants players fared in the Wild Card round

Blake Snell

Former Giant turned Dodger Blake Snell got the ball in Game 1 of LA's Wild Card series against the Cincinnati Reds. He pitched seven solid innings and gave up two earned runs in a great performance. Let's hope every start he has from now on is as dreadful as he was in the first half of 2024 with the Giants.

Zack Littell

Staying in the Reds-Dodgers series, former Giant Zack Littell got the ball for the Reds in Game 2 and struggled, giving up three earned runs in 3 and 1/3 innings of work which earned him the loss. The Reds lost the first two games of the series to the Dodgers and were eliminated so they are now officially dead to Giants fans.

Carlos Rodón

The New York Yankees gave former Giants pitcher Carlos Rodón the ball in Game 2 of their series against the Boston Red Sox. He pitched six innings and allowed three earned runs as the Yankees ended up winning the series in three games. Let's just hope the New York fans were intense enough for him.

Matthew Boyd

Boyd may not have ever thrown a pitch for the Giants, but he is still a Forever Giant in our book. He got the ball in Game 1 for the Chicago Cubs against the San Diego Padres and pitched well, giving up just one earned run in 4 and 1/3 innings of work.

Drew Pomeranz

Pomeranz actually had multiple stints with the Giants but he is now a reliever for the Cubs. He turned in two scoreless outings for Chicago in the Wild Card series.

Taylor Rogers

The less popular of the two Rogers twins amongst Giants fans, Taylor has bounced around from team to team this year but landed with the Cubs and delivered one scoreless inning against the Padres.

Jakob Junis

Former long-reliever for the Giants Jakob Junis has found a home with the Cleveland Guardians and pitched well in theie series against the Detroit Tigers. He had two outings and did not allow any runs but the Guardians still lost to Detroit in three games.

Pretty much all of these former Giants did well outside of Littell. We will see some other familiar faces in the divisional round which kicks off on Saturday.
