Dodgers getting ex-SF Giants prospect in Red Sox trade is already infuriating

Of course he is already tearing it up in the Dodgers organization.

Last year, the SF Giants selected the Florida State product James Tibbs III in the first round of the 2024 MLB Draft. Since then, he has been traded twice and is now off to a hot start in the Los Angeles Dodgers organization which is an unfortunate development.

Tibbs was included in the blockbuster trade the Giants made with the Boston Red Sox for Rafael Devers. He spent just a little over a month in Boston's organization and did not do much before he was dealt to the Dodgers in the Dustin May trade. He has talked about how it has been a bit of a whirlwind for him the last few months.

James Tibbs already raking in Dodgers organization much to the chagrin of SF Giants

It would not come as a huge shock if the Dodgers landing Tibbs was the handiwork of Farhan Zaidi considering he was the guy who drafted him.

Tibbs has only appeared in six games for the Tulsa Drillers, LA's Double-A affiliate, but in a recent game he had a two-homer performance and has six runs batted in as a Driller.

It is obviously still very early in his tenure with the Dodgers organization, but it really would sting if Tibbs turned into a solid player at the big league level and tortured the Giants for years to come. That's always how these things seem to work out, though.

Still, the Giants probably do not regret acquiring Devers and parting ways with Tibbs. Even though Devers has struggled as a Giant and the team went downhill after trading for him, the hope is that over the next eight years he is under contract that he will develop into a consistent threat for the Giants and will help lead them to many successful seasons.

However, if that does not happen and the Giants end up looking back at the Devers trade as a massive mistake while Tibbs becomes an All-Star with the Dodgers then Giants fans may lose their minds.

That is all just negative hypothetical thinking, though. Tibbs still has a long way to go until he reaches the big leagues and the Giants are confident Devers is going to be a big contributor for years to come. It still is annoying to see Tibbs get off to a hot start with in the Dodgers organization, though.
