The window from the SF Giants championship run has long been closed. However, the 2025 season is a new one from that story in that there are no active players currently on a major league roster from that run.
Did the curtains finally close on the SF Giants championship run in 2025?
Brandon Crawford retiring after 14 seasons and Brandon Belt's career seemingly coming to a close probably represents the offical end from that era. However, there were still a handful of players from those teams as recently as last season.
Ehire Adrianza, Adam Duvall, Matt Duffy, and Hunter Strickland all saw time in the majors last year. Adrianza called it a career after a brief run with the Los Angeles Angels. Duvall has a desire to continue playing, but he has not received a compelling offer after a down year.
Duffy took a handful of at-bats with the Texas Rangers last year, but his last quality season was with the Chicago Cubs in 2021. He currently remains a free agent. The utility infielder just turned 34, so it might take a good opportunity to continue his career.
A few players from that run have continued their playing career, even if it is not with a major league team. Pablo Sandoval was in Giants camp as a guest instructor and expressed his desire to continue playing. He just re-signed with the Staten Island FerryHawks of the Atlantic League.
Mike Kickham made two appearances with the Giants in 2014 and resurfaced years later. He has not pitched in the majors since a brief stint with the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2021, but he re-signed with the Hagerstown Flying Boxcars of the Atlantic League in March.
Hunter Strickland did not have too many fans with the organization by the time his tenure ended in 2018. He is still pitching with the Texas Rangers Triple-A club on a minor league deal.
It has been 11 years since the Giants' last championship in 2014, which is a long, long time in baseball. Many of the players who played a role during the run in the early 2010's have long since retired, but a few were remaining as recently as last year. In 2025, no one is left, and with maybe one or two exceptions, that may not change.
