SF Giants president of baseball operations Buster Posey spoke to the media at a press conference on Wednesday. He was asked about whether the team would entertain hiring Bruce Bochy to be the manager again and he said he did not envision it.
Posey's response to the question about Bochy can be viewed below:

Buster Posey shoots down idea of SF Giants reunion with Bruce Bochy
If you cannot access the video, this is what Posey had to say: "Yeah, I talked to Boch a couple days ago and just, you know, told him that where we are currently, and I don't even know what Boch's plans are, if he wants to continue to manage or not. The door is always open here for some sort of role. But, the way I think things are coming into picture in my mind with where we want to go next, I don't see us going that route with Boch."
For those hoping Posey would get the band back together and hire the man who helped deliver three World Series titles last decade, this comes as a bit of a gut punch. Bochy will forever be revered in San Francisco even if he came back as manager and the team wasn't any good. His legacy will last forever in the city of San Francisco.
However, if the Giants want to step forward and try to create something new then maybe it is for the best if they go a different route.
Often when picking a new manager, teams want the opposite of what they just got rid of. Bob Melvin and Bruce Bochy are both old school managers. There is no question that Bochy is a better manager than Melvin, but it seems the Giants want more of a new school manager who brings something different to the team than what Melvin provided.
Surely, the Giants see the success that a young manager like Stephen Vogt is having with the Cleveland Guardians and want their own version of that. Maybe that means the Giants will opt for another former backup Giants catcher.
We will see how this all plays out, but Posey's answer on Bochy seems to take the legendary manager off the board of possibilities. This will upset some fans, but maybe it is for the best as the Giants try to create something new and not just dwell on the past.
