Buster Posey and the 3 Giants who'll be Hall of Famers next after Jeff Kent's induction

Former SF Giants second baseman Jeff Kent was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame on Sunday. It is a well-deserved honor for a great career but now naturally Giants fans can’t help but wonder who will be next.

Buster Posey is on the ballot next year and while he should be a shoe-in to make it on the first ballot, I wouldn’t put anything past that institution. Baseball writers are as petty as they come and it wouldn’t be a shock if some decide that Posey’s rough tenure as San Francisco’s president of baseball operations is enough to keep him out of the Hall at least his first year on the ballot. One future Hall of Famer thinks that would be insane but it genuinely should not come as a surprise if it does happen.

Posey should make it in eventually, after him though it may be a long while until a player who played the majority of their career with San Francisco is inducted into Cooperstown. So who will the next three Giants inductees be?

3 Giants who should be in the Hall after Buster Posey

Bruce Bochy

2027 could be a great year for the Giants as a whole. Manager Bruce Bochy is on the ballot and he absolutely has to be voted into the Hall. He led the San Diego Padres to a World Series appearance as manager, then led the Giants to three World Series victories, stepped away from the game for a few years, then came back and won another World Series in his first year with the Texas Rangers.

He’s had an amazing career and he will obviously be enshrined in the Hall of Fame as a Giant. He’ll be the first manager enshrined as a Giant since Leo Durocher.

Dusty Baker

Bochy will not be the only Giants manager likely going into the Hall next year though. Dusty Baker is also on the ballot and he absolutely should make it. He managed the Giants from 1993 to 2002 and got San Francisco oh so close to a title in 2002.

He didn’t get his first ring as a manager until 2022 with the Houston Astros but he still had an incredibly distinguished career as a skipper with a career managerial record of 2,183-1,862. 

His longest tenure came with the Giants though so he should definitely be enshrined with a Giants logo on his plaque.

Duane Kuiper or Mike Krukow

Since the Giants will quite possibly have Posey, Bochy, and Baker all go in the same year, it becomes harder to predict who will come next. The best bet may be in the broadcaster booth as Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow have both been nominated for the Ford Frick Award but have not won. Kuiper actually lost to Joe Buck for the 2026 honor.

Sadly, Hall of Fame rules prevent Kruk and Kuip from being inducted as a duo which is a shame but at least one of them deserves the honor. They may not have the reach outside the Bay Area to be elected but Giants fans know that they are two of the best to ever do it.

The Hall of Fame has screwed the Giants with its treatment of Barry Bonds and its hypocrisy so the least it can do is induct Posey, Bochy, Baker, and eventually Kruk and Kuip to try to make up for it.
