When the SF Giants decided to part ways with their long-time public address announcer Renel Brooks-Moon last year, it caused an uproar amongst the fanbase. Now, Renel's lovely voice can be heard in a popular video game franchise.

A gameplay video for MLB The Show 25, a video game franchise that has been around since 2006, was released and in the video they give an overview of all the new features in the game, one of which being Brooks-Moon serving as a PA announcer to announce the batter when they are at the plate.

A short clip of her announcing Elly De La Cruz of the Cincinnati Reds can be viewed here on social media.

Beloved SF Giants PA announcer Renel Brooks-Moon featured in MLB The Show

Brooks-Moon served as the public address announcer for the Giants for the first 24 seasons that the team was at Oracle Park. Her iconic voice became synonymous with the ballpark and with Giants baseball over the course of her tenure.

The fact that her tenure came to an end seemingly due to a contract dispute left a bad taste in everyone's mouth and made the Giants as an organization look bad. The Giants typically do a good job of keeping beloved figures around the team for as long as possible, whether it be longtime clubhouse manager Mike Murphy or the beloved duo of Mike Krukow and Duane Kuiper in the broadcast booth. That is why ot was disheartening to see Renel depart the Giants after she was involved with the team for so long.

Ultimately, the Giants decided to replace Renel with Carolyn McArdle, a minor league call up in a sense because she was the public address announcer for the Sacramento River Cats for the five seasons prior to joining the Giants.

Despite the acrimonious end to her tenure with the Giants, it is still cool to see Brooks-Moon be part of a storied video game franchise. I have played many different iterations of MLB The Show over the years and usually do not purchase the game every year because most editions are not too different from the previous year's, but if Renel Brooks-Moon is involved then I may have to consider buying it just to hear Renel announce the names of Giants players like the good old days.
