SF Giants legend Barry Bonds has not been shy about lending his expertise to struggling hitters. It looks like he is trying to work his magic yet again for first baseman LaMonte Wade Jr. who has really struggled at the plate this season.
In a video posted on social media, Bonds can be seen giving pointers during batting practice before Tuesday night's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks:

It seems like Bonds' hitting lesson may have had a positive impact as Wade recorded two hits in five at-bats on Tuesday night. His overall numbers are still not pretty as the veteran first baseman is slashing .157/.258/.252 with one home run and 14 runs batted in.
Perhaps Bonds can get Wade back on track, though. Earlier this season we saw Bonds have a similar batting practice chat with Tyler Fitzgerald. After that chat, Fitzgerald began to hit the ball much better and he credited Bonds' advice with helping him find his groove.
Pat Burrell, Oscar Bernard, and Damon Minor comprise the hitting coach staff on the team. However, it must be a great luxury for both them and the team as a whole to have one of the greatest hitters the game of baseball has ever seen at their disposal to help a struggling player get out of a hole.
Plus, it much be such a confidence boost for a struggling hitter desperate to find any tweak that will help them find it to get advice from a legend like Bonds. Even if Bonds is just giving them some basic tweaks, the fact that they are coming from him carries so much more weight than they would from anyone else.
In Wade's case, there is no left-handed hitter better to talk to about how to hit in Oracle Park than Bonds. The Home Run King dominated that park so any little nuggets of wisdom he can throw to Wade are only going to help him and his confidence.
Our own Jeff Young recently looked at how Wade's increased launch angle this season may be a big factor in his slump. If Wade can level his swing out a bit and start driving the ball rather than hitting it into the air, that could be the key to him figuring things out at the plate.
It is a lot easier said than done, but with Barry Bonds helping out it certainly makes that goal seem much more attainable.
