5 players SF Giants still might trade in final hours ahead of trade deadline

The SF Giants have traded away their most obvious trade chips by dealing Robbie Ray to the San Diego Padres, Luis Arraez to the Philadelphia Phillies, and Tyler Mahle to the Atlanta Braves. There’s less than two hours until the 3 PM PST deadline but let’s look at five players they could realistically deal.

5 SF Giants who may be dealt in final hours before trade deadline

Heliot Ramos

Outfielder Heliot Ramos should draw interest from a number of teams. He’s a power-hitting right-handed bat under team control until 2029 who could add some much-needed thump to a lineup.

The New York Yankees and Philadelphia Phillies make sense as landing spots so keep an eye on whether Ramos moves because that could get the Giants a very nice haul.

JT Brubaker

The Giants already traded relieve Caleb Kilian and it wouldn’t be a shock of JT Brubaker is on the move as well. He has a 3.06 ERA on the year and will be a free agent after the season so the Giants should get something for him.

Don’t expect a huge return at all but it could be more like the Mahle trade where the Giants get a cheap arm out of a deal for him.

Erik Miller

Even though the Giants’ bullpen as a collective has been pretty dreadful this season, the individual parts are not too bad. Erik Miller is a great left-handed option for teams who need a southpaw in the bullpen.

He has a 2.76 ERA on the season and is under team control beyond this season so he wouldn’t be just a rental.

Keaton Winn

In the same boat as Miller is Keaton Winn. He’s had a solid first season in which he’s been used primarily as a late-inning reliever with a 3.08 ERA on the year.

That splitter-fastball combination can be deadly when he is on his game but the Giants may also see Miller and Winn as guys they can build around in the bullpen going forward.

Sam Hentges

The tall lefty Sam Hentges has had a pretty good year in the bullpen as well with a 2.66 ERA on the season. Lefties like him have a way of being dealt this time of year so he’s another bullpen arm to keep an eye on.

Ramos is certainly the most interesting of the bunch since he is a former All-Star and has been a key part of the team the last several years. Yet, the Giants can capitalize on their bad season by continuing to load up their farm system so don’t be surprised if they remain active right up until the deadline.
