Spring training games are currently being played and many free agents have already found a club. There are a lot of players who have still yet to be signed, though.
A few weeks ago we looked at 13 former Giants who were without a home. Since then, a number of those players have signed minor league deals. Still, a few surprising names who are familiar to Giants fans remain unsigned with exhibition games already underway. Let’s take a look at 3 guys who somewhat surprisingly remain unsigned.
3 former SF Giants without a team as regular season nears
Wilmer Flores
In the first half of the 2025 season, one could have easily made the case that Wilmer Flores was the most valuable player on the Giants.
The beloved veteran was coming up with clutch hits on the regular and looked like Flores at his peak with the team.Â
The Rafael Devers acquisition limited the playing time Flores got for the rest of the season and his numbers declined with fewer opportunities.
But one would think he’s done enough in his career to at least warrant a minor league deal. Maybe he is holding out hope for a major league contract but at this point that seems unlikely.
Zack Littell
Giants fans were most certainly surprised to see Zack Littell establish himself as a solid rotation piece with the Cincinnati Reds and Tampa Bay Rays last season.
He was a middling reliever during his time with the Giants who will forever be a hero to Gabe Kapler haters for having a spat with the polarizing manager on the mound when he took him out of the game.
Littell had a 3.81 ERA in 32 starts last season which one would think would be enough to earn him a one-year deal to be a team’s fourth or fifth starter.
Maybe he’s waiting for an injury or something to open up a spot for him.
Donovan SolanoÂ
Even though he is coming off a bit of a down season, Donovan Solano seems like a solid guy to take a chance on as a bench piece or pinch hitter type.Â
He’s sort of like a poor man’s Luis Arraez since he has great contact skills and puts the ball in play a lot, just not to the same extent as Arraez. He is 38 though and doesn't bring a ton to the table defensively so maybe teams are wary of those factors.
It will be interesting to see if anyone takes a chance on these guys before the start of the regular season.Â
