Sports Astrologer Andrea Mallis-Planets Not Aligning for Peavy, Hope for Cain
It’s just not happening for San Francisco Giants No. 4 and 5 starters Jake Peavy and Matt Cain right now.

After Peavy’s second-straight disastrous outing on Wednesday, where he gave up seven runs on eight hits, he is now 1-3 with a 9.00 ERA. His fastball is topping out at 89 miles per hour when it used to be around 92 miles per hour.
Peavy’s stuff is the flattest it’s ever been in his career, and he has lost his ability to command the ball so far this year. And it shows on the baseball card with his 1.90 WHIP this year.
Matt Cain, on the other hand, has great stuff–a 92 mile-per-hour fastball, great bite on the offspeed stuff, good change-up, but he is still 0-3 with a 7.00 ERA this year. His command is not what it once was when he was carving up hitters from 2009-2012.
You can crunch numbers, remove bone chips, get out the radar gun, or examine the arm–but one woman is offering a different perspective to Cain and Peavy’s pitching woes.

SPORTS ASTROLOGY BULLET POINTS FROM ANDREA:
Jake Peavy:
- Sun in Gemini Jake Peavy May 31, 1981 Mobile, AL
- You are, in many ways, an eternal child. An air sign, your mind is bright, alert, curious, flexible, playful, and always eager for new experiences. You grasp ideas quickly and once your initial curiosity has been satisfied, you want to go on to something else. You crave frequent change, variety, meeting new situations and people. Baseball is a perfect fit for Gemini as variety is the spice of life.
- A multitude of interests for Gemini Jake, including music and playing guitar, especially Grateful Dead tunes.
- Forecast wise: With Saturn, planet of limitation, currently in Sagittarius opposing Peavy’s Sun in Gemini:Life seems like an endurance test during this transit. You may feel tired, worn out seems overwhelming in comparison with your time and energy. There may be delays in your projects or simply a feeling that the fruits of your current labor are hard to see right now. It is a time to ponder on your priorities and discard any tasks that may be blocking your path, while shouldering responsibility in the areas which are important. Meditation may be useful. Certainly it is a time to watch your diet and health.
- Astrology and life occur in cycles. Last April 2015, A Neptune transit began for Peavy, landing him on the DL for a back strain, and now Neptune is continuing its enervating cycle.
- With Neptune in the mix, planet of confusion, in Pisces, squaring his Sun in Gemini, which began last season, lowering energy levels and expectations. Disillusionment can prevail.
- Things should improve down the stretch. Here’s an idea…….since Gemini is the sign of the Twins. and Tim Lincecum’s pitching showcase is Friday (barring any more delays) especially with Mercury, planet of communication, in Retrograde, (April 28-May 22). Perhaps adaptable Gemini’s Peavy and Lincecum can take turns in the starting rotation and bullpen?
Matt Cain
- Libra Matt Cain, October 1, 1984 Dothan, AL
- Balanced and harmonious Libra Matt Cain, is feeling neither right now. With an ERA of 7, times are tough and not feeling very fair, for the once reliable Horse.
- Timing is everything.
- If Cain can be patient and wait until the September stretch and October, Jupiter, planet of good fortune in Libra will connect to his Sun and Mercury in Libra, ushering in a once every 12-year cycle of expansion, success and opportunity.
Parallel Universe?
- In a parallel universe, Mets pitcher Matt Harvey is having a similar Neptune transit to his Mars, a crucial planet for an athlete, a very enervating and disillusioning cycle. Shades of Barry Zito, as he struggled with Neptune as well during his Giants tenure.
