San Francisco Giants Minor League Report 4/9

It was a rough day on the diamond today for the San Francisco Giants. But there were some shining stars that came out today for the kids down on the farm. Here is the San Francisco Giants minor league report for 4/9.

Triple-A: The Bees scored six runs off of starter Chris Stratton, who also gave up nine hits, and struck out three but finished strong. Braulio Lara and Jake Dunning pitched clean innings, but the River Cats only managed three singles (Jarrett Parker, Grant Green, and Hak-Ju Lee) until the ninth when Mac Williamson doubled to right. The final score was 6-0.

Due Up: @ Salt Lake 12:05 pm pt Lujan vs Skaggs

Double-A: It was a doubleheader day for the Richmond Flying Squirrels as they took on the Hartford Yard Goats (one of the greatest team names out there) . The two teams split the double-header with the Yard Goats winning the first one 5-1, and the Flying Squirrels taking the nightcap 4-0.

Hartford starter Antonio Senzatela was sensational as he allowed a run on three hits in six innings. (Both games were seven-inning affairs.)  1B Ricky Oropesa is trying to make an early impression to be moved up, by hitting a solo shot in the second inning, his second of the year.

In the second game, it was a completely different story as Joan Gregorio threw four no-hit innings. He walked three and struck out six. Then Dan Slania (1-0) worked two more scoreless, allowing just a lone single and striking out four. And Ray Black walked one and struck out two in a scoreless seventh. On offense, Oropesa hit his third home run, CF Austin Slater went 2-4, and 3B Ryder Jones had a three-run double. 2B Christian Arroyo had a hit in four trips.

Due Up: The Flying Squirrels are off on Sunday. Will resume play Monday at 3:35 pm pt more details tomorrow

High-A: Rained out- The San Jose Giants game was rained out today and they will try to play tomorrow.

Due Up: @ Home Play resumes from Friday’s delayed game. Giants were down 4-1 in the top of the fifth.

Low-A: The Augusta Green Jackets were on the road in Rome, GA playing the Rome Braves. Augusta was able to take a 4-3 victory with SS Lucius Fox going 2-5 and clobbering his first home run. He scored two and drove in two, and also stole a base.  Logan Webb started for the Green Jackets and went four innings. he gave up three runs on six hits. Connor Kaden (1-0) got the win after working three scoreless innings. Heath Slatton and Caleb Smith also worked a scoreless inning to close it out.
