Why Brandon Crawford wasn’t at SF Giants’ celebration of Brandon Belt

No bad blood here.

The SF Giants held Brandon Belt Celebration Day at Oracle Park on Saturday. A lot of his former teammates and coaches were in attendance, including one controversial surprise guest, but one player was notably absent in Brandon Crawford.

However, fear not. There is no rift between the Brandons or anything like that. Crawford was actually celebrated at a Richmond Flying Squirrels game on Saturday so he was unable to be at Oracle Park for Belt’s ceremony.

Jalynne Crawford explains why they weren't able to be at Belt ceremony

Jalynne Crawford, Brandon’s wife, addressed this on social media and cleared up any confusion. She reposted our own Jeff Young’s post about how Crawford being recognized in Richmond was likely why he wasn’t there and then she wrote the following on social media:

“We are in Richmond Virginia where the Flying Squirrels held a Brandon Crawford day! We are sad we couldn’t be in two places at once! We wouldn’t have missed a day to celebrate Brandon Belt and his family! 🙏💕We love Them!!!!”

Crawford was being recognized as the Greatest Diamond-Era Flying Squirrel which is a very unique honor. It’s a shame that he was not able to be there for Belt’s special day and one wishes the schedulers maybe had a bit more flexibility on it but oh well. Jalynne Crawford also shared another message on how both events were scheduled on the same day and why Belt was unable to attend Crawford's celebration at Oracle Park last season.

Even if Crawford wasn’t able to be there, he and Belt will forever be tethered in Giants lore. Those two were integral parts of the 2012 and 2014 World Series teams. They made so many memorable plays together over the years and were fittingly known as "the Brandons."

They fit in perfectly with the culture of those teams as they were guys who simply wanted the team to win above all else and didn’t really draw too much attention to themselves. They could also joke with one another and clearly were good friends both on and off the field.

They were also a huge driving force behind the team’s miracle 2021 season. Both Brandons and Buster Posey turned back the clock and looked like younger versions of themselves as they powered the team to a franchise-record 107 wins.

Both Belt and Crawford are Forever Giants and fans will always have fond memories of the things they did together as teammates and the titles they helped bring to San Francisco. Surely we'll get to see them at many more Oracle Park reunions going forward.
