It will take years to determine how well the SF Giants did in this year's draft. That said, Josh Catlett of Just Baseball Media gave them an A+ grade, which was the highest grade he assigned in this year's class.

Draft grades are hard to do, especially in baseball. The development path often extends beyond multiple years. It is an imperfect exercise, but there are plenty of draft writers who follow the talent closely and have a good pulse on this.

Catlett was quick to recognize the scouting efforts by the Giants. The next step will be getting this group to sign. After that, it will be up to the development team to try to get as many of these players to the majors as possible.

Oftentimes, a good organization has a good synergy between the amateur scouting department and the development team. The teams that have some of the best success in the draft know what the development teams are strong at developing.

One writer believes SF Giants made good selections up-and-down the 2026 MLB draft

For now, that is a conversation for a different day. The Giants felt like they had a good draft, and many people seem to agree.

Catlett was quick to compliment some of the top picks, including Jackson Flora and Carson Bolemon. Bolemon was viewed as a strong pick, with one MLB draft expert labeling it as his favorite pick from the first day of the draft.

In addition to this, Catlett highlighted several more Giants picks. This included Eric Nachtsheim and Beau Bryans as money-saving selections. Both players are fourth-year college seniors, so they have little leverage. There is a good chance that they sign for underslot deals.

Peyton Bonds, Cody Brasch, and JP Robertson also got shoutouts from Catlett. Bonds offers quality contact skills with intriguing raw power. The Giants' development team will be tasked with getting more of that power into the games.

Brasch has a live fastball that plays well at the top of the zone, and pairs that with a downer breaking ball. He commands both of his pitches well, and will likely need to solidify a third pitch to stick as a starter in pro ball.

Lastly, Robertson was the club's 20th-round pick out of the University of Mississippi. He has a fastball that sits in the upper 90's with a hard slider out of the bullpen.

The Giants have rarely been lauded for their picks in recent drafts. However, this year's class appears to be a pleasant exception. The early reviews seem to be extremely favorable.
