The SF Giants released a handful of minor leaguers ahead of the 2026 season. Speedy infielder Quinn McDaniel was among those let go by the organization, per the team's transaction log.

The Giants also released Miguel Blanco (Dominican Summer League Giants), Donovan McIntyre (Arizona Complex League Giants), Cale Lansville (San Jose Giants), Cole Foster (Eugene Emeralds), Ian Villers (Richmond Flying Squirrels), Nick Sinacola (Richmond Flying Squirrels), and Tyler Myrick (Sacramento River Cats).

Earlier this week, the Giants also released veteran backstop Eric Haase. This was done to get the affiliates ready for the regular season. Teams can carry up to 175 players on their domestic rosters, but that number needs to be trimmed down to 165 players by the time the season begins.

Quinn McDaniel might be the most notable name among the cuts. He was a fifth-round pick by the club out of the University of Maine in 2023. He was drafted as an infielder. By the time 2024 rolled around, the Giants had stretched him to the outfield.

In addition to learning a new position, the right-handed bat put up some solid numbers with Eugene that season. This included a .735 OPS with 13 home runs and 56 RBI in 511 plate appearances. He also swiped 40 bases in 47 chances. That type of power and speed combination was intriguing.

The Giants also cut ties with Cole Foster. He was a third-round pick out of Auburn University in the same draft as McDaniel This is about as quickly as I can remember the Giants cutting a pair of top picks this soon after the draft. More often than not, they get a few seasons to work with the organization, even if it is in a depth role.

Ian Villers and Nick Sinacola pitched for Richmond last season. Villers posted a 4.25 ERA across four minor league seasons. On the other hand, Sinacola pitched to a 3.79 ERA in five minor league seasons.

Cale Lansville had a 5.13 ERA in three minor league seasons. He did earn an invite to the Arizona Fall League in 2024, where he pitched to a 3.45 ERA in 15.2 innings for the Scottsdale Scorpions.

Tyler Myrick had put up respectable numbers in his pro career. He tallied a 3.48 ERA in five minor league seasons. This includes a quality 4.07 ERA in parts of two seasons with Sacramento.
