Webb is coming off of a strong first half, where he posted a 2.94 ERA in 20 starts. He pitched a scoreless frame in the All-Star game. In a way, he redeemed himself from a rough outing he had in his first All-Star game last summer.

The veteran hurler has shown a spike in strikeout numbers this season. This is due to a change in pitch mix, where he is now favoring his sweeper more than his changeup. Both pitches have seen an uptick in whiff rate this season. The hitter will usually tell how a pitcher is throwing, and hitters have struggled even to make contact against Webb's secondary offerings.
