The SF Giants (10-3) take on the New York Yankees (7-6) for the second game of a three-game series. Jordan Hicks is slated to start today's game, and the Giants hope that he can help the club secure a series win on the road.

The Giants defeated the Yankees by a score of 9-1 in a rain-shortened game on Friday. They put up five runs in the first inning, knocking Yankees starter Marcus Stroman out of the game after just two outs. The Giants looked like they would make the bullpen work, but the rain cut that short. In the end, the Yankees bullpen did need to throw five innings.

Hicks will be making his third start of the year for San Francisco. He is coming off a quality start against the Seattle Mariners where he yielded three earned runs across 5.1 frames in a 5-4 win. The hard-throwing pitching was battling an inconsistent strike zone that day, so it was a tougher challenge than just facing the hitters.

Hicks wants to prove that he can stick as a starter after making 20 starts last year. He is aiming to make 30 starts in 2025. The Yankees' lineup can hit, and they will present a good challenge for Hicks.

Who is hot for the SF Giants?

This is the best Mike Yastrzemski has looked in years. He blasted a three-run home run on last weekend and followed that up with a walk-off long ball against the Cincinnati Reds earlier in the week. He got the Giants' five-run rally started on Friday with a double, and he later added a walk.

Who are the SF Giants facing?

The Giants will face off against second-year pitcher Will Warren. He has allowed six earned runs with nine strikeouts and five walks across nine innings this season. Warren throws two different versions of a low-90's fastball with a sweeper, changeup, and occasional curveball.
