The SF Giants (52-43) pulled off a thrilling win against the Los Angeles Dodgers (56-39) on Friday night. They will now hand the ball off to Landen Roupp to try and secure a series victory.
SF Giants probable pitchers & starting lineup vs. Los Angeles Dodgers, July 12
Friday night's game had the intensity of a playoff game and the excitement that comes when two rivals face off. The Giants were the better team in the first game of the series, thanks to some huge hits from Willy Adames and Jung Hoo Lee. Adames had arguably his biggest game with his new club, as he belted a home run and collected three RBI in four at-bats.
Roupp had his worst outing of the season in a start against the Dodgers in June. He yielded six earned runs across 1.2 innings with five walks and no strikeouts. He has a chance for redemption today.
Regardless, this has been a promising season for the 26-year-old hurler. He has a 3.39 ERA, 3.84 FIP, 1.46 WHIP, 8.1 K/9, and a 2.03 SO/W rate across 90.1 innings. Roupp has excelled at keeping the ball in the ballpark, too.
Who is hot for the SF Giants?
Willy Adames continues his turnaround after a brutal start to the season. His hot streak stretches to early June. Since the beginning of May, the right-handed bat is slashing .361/.439/.750 with three home runs and 12 RBI in 41 plate appearances.
Who are the SF Giants facing?
The Giants will face off against Shohei Ohtani. He continues to rehab from elbow surgery, so his start today should be relatively short. Ohtani has not yet thrown more than two innings in any of his four starts. Overall, he has a 1.50 ERA with six strikeouts and one walk in six innings.
