The SF Giants (14-7) and Los Angeles Angels (10-10) split the first two games of the three-game series. Justin Verlander is slated to help San Francisco clinch the series victory.

Verlander is looking for his first victory as well. The future Hall of Famer currently sits at 262 career wins. He is looking to play long enough to reach 300 career wins. The last pitcher to do that was Randy Johnson with the Giants in 2009.

The veteran hurler has posted a 6.75 ERA through with 17 strikeouts against nine walks through 18.2 frames this season. The four-seam fastball velocity is back up to 94.5 MPH after seeing a dip last season. However, that pitch has been hit hard.

It is still early in the year, and the Giants will be patient with the struggling veterans, including Verlander. The front office does not seem to be reactive with slow starts and rough streaks that are common throughout a long season.

Who is hot for the SF Giants?

Matt Chapman is seeing the ball well right now. He is not chasing out of the zone, and racking up walks at a high rate. On Saturday, he added his fourth home run of the season to help lift the Giants over the Angels. He reached base three times, including two hits and a walk. The right-handed bat has recorded a multi-hit game in four of his last five games.

Who are the SF Giants facing?

The Giants are facing off against veteran pitcher Yusei Kikuchi. Kikuchi is in his first year with the Angels after inking a three-year, $63.8 million pact in the offseason. He has recorded a 4.13 ERA through four starts. The lefty pitchern will mix in a mid-90's fastball with a slider, curveball, and changeup.
