The SF Giants take (12-3) take on the Cleveland Guardians (7-10) on the road. San Francisco has tabbed Tristan Beck to take the hill for his first start of the spring.

More than anything, it is encouraging to see Beck back on the mound. He suffered a scary injury around this time last season. The 28-year-old pitcher was diagnosed with an aneurysm in his upper right arm and underwent surgery to address the issue.

As a result, he missed most of the 2024 season. Beck did make five rehab appearances with the Sacramento River Cats toward the end of the year. He was recalled late in the season and allowed just three earned runs across 16 frames. Overall, the righty pitcher has registered a 3.56 ERA across two seasons with San Francisco.

Beck is competing for a bullpen role this spring. He has allowed three earned runs with one strikeout against two walks in the Cactus League. On the mound, he features a low-to-mid 90's four-seam fastball that plays up due to above-average extension with a curveball, sweeper, and slider. Among his secondaries, he leans a little more on his curveball but can throw all three for strikes.

No one wants the season to start more than Matt Chapman. The veteran player added two more hits and two RBI in Tuesday's 5-3 win over the A's. He now has 11 hits, including four home runs, with 11 RBI in 20 at-bats

Who are the SF Giants facing?

The Giants will face off against lefty pitcher Joey Cantillo. Cantillo has allowed four earned runs in six innings this spring. He will throw a low 90's four-seamer with a changeup, curveball, and slider.
