The SF Giants (15-5) take on the Chicago White Sox (8-14) on the road on St. Patrick's Day. Justin Verlander is tabbed as today's starter for San Francisco.

Grab a pint of Guinness, grab some potatoes, and grab some corned beef and cabbage, as this will be one of Verlander's final starts before the regular season. He is coming off of a solid outing in which he completed five innings, allowing one earned run on one walk and four strikeouts in a 5-3 win over the A's.

Also, if you are wondering who the No. 2 starter in the rotation is, it is lining up to be Verlander. Logan Webb pitched in Sunday's game against the A's, and the Giants likely will not break that pattern at this point. Webb will start the first game of the year, followed by Verlander.

Overall, Verlander has yielded just two earned runs on nine strikeouts and two walks in 11 frames this spring. The Giants hope that the right-handed pitcher can rebound from a disappointing year in 2024 that limited him to just 17 starts due to neck and shoulder injuries.

Who is hot for the SF Giants?

Jerar Encarnación continues to tear up Cactus League pitching. He added two more doubles in Saturday's 7-3 win over the A's. Overall, he has tallied 16 hits, including two home runs, with 14 RBI in 49 plate appearances this spring.

Who are the SF Giants facing?

The Giants will be facing off against young pitcher Jonathan Cannon. Cannon has allowed 10 earned runs in eight innings this spring. He does not overpower with velocity, as he sinker sits in the low 90's. However, he can throw a number of different pitchers for strikes. This includes a sweeper, cutter, changeup, and four-seamer to go along with his sinker.
