The SF Giants (37-28) secured the series win on Saturday against the Atlanta Braves (27-36) thanks to a Matt Chapman walk-off home run. They will now lean on young pitcher Landen Roupp to try and get the sweep.
SF Giants probable pitchers & starting lineup vs. Atlanta Braves, June 8
The Giants certainly have had a knack for the theatrical lately. They tallied two straight walk-off wins against the Braves. The first came on a wild pitch that led to Tyler Fitzgerald scoring the winning run. The next one was on Saturday afternoon, with Chapman blasting a two-run home run to end the game.
The Giants' offense has gone cold over the past three weeks, but the pitching remains strong. That combination will result in a lot of close, low-scoring games. The torture that has often been synonomous with Giants baseball might be back.
Landen Roupp will take the hill for San Francisco, as he looks to continue a strong stretch. He has only allowed one earned run in his last 22.1 innings pitched. Overall, the righty pitcher has a 3.18 ERA in 12 starts. He relies on a sinker-curveball combination, but he has done a better job of mixing in his changeup more effectively in recent starts.
Who is hot for the SF Giants?
There are not too many options to pick for this one. Wilmer Flores continues to be one of the team's best run producers. He added an RBI single on Friday night, and blasted his 11th home run of the year on Saturday. The veteran bat has 49 RBI on the year, is on pace to break a long drought.
Who is hot for the SF Giants?
The Giants will face off against Spencer Strider. He underwent season-ending elbow surgery after just two starts in 2024. It usually takes some time for pitchers to return to their pre-surgery form after a major procedure and that has been the case for Strider. He has a 5.68 ERA with 19 strikeouts and eight walks in 19 innings since returning to the mound.
