The SF Giants (36-28) squeaked by with a win against the Atlanta Braves (27-35) on Friday night. Staff ace Logan Webb will take the mound to try and secure a series win on Saturday.

It was a wild scenario on Friday. Tyler Fitzgerald got picked off to end the ninth inning. Since he made the last out of that inning, he was designated as the ghost runner at second base to start the bottom of the 10th inning. The speedy Giants infielder advanced to third base on a ground ball and scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

It was not a clean win, but it still counts. They are now in the driver's seat for this series with Webb taking the ball. He is coming off one of his best outings of the year, collecting eight scoreless frames against the San Diego Padres. The Giants did drop that game, as the offense was not able to get anything across the plate.

Overall, Webb has a 2.55 ERA, 2.14 FIP, 1.16 WHIP, 10.1 K/9, and a 5.35 SO/W rate across 13 starts in 2025. He leads the NL in FIP while being one of the league's top pitchers.

Who is hot for the SF Giants?

Matt Chapman hit a bit of a cold spell in May, but he has rebounded nicely over the past few weeks. The veteran bat has recorded a hit in seven of his last eight games. During that time, he has a 1.265 OPS with two home runs and three RBI in 28 at-bats.

Who are the SF Giants facing?

The Giants are facing off against Bryce Elder. Elder has a 4.56 ERA in nine starts for the Braves. He has a low 90's fastball with a slider and a changeup. He does not overpower with velocity, but he mixes in a fastball with two different looks. Plus, he does a nice job at keeping the ball on the ground with a 51.3 percent ground ball rate.
