It’s important to soak up all the SF Giants news we can since things are likely to come to a grinding halt in December with the lockout so let’s dive into some of the latest topics surrounding the team with so much uncertainty currently swirling around MLB.
SF Giants news updates ahead of the weekend
More coaching turnover
The Giants decided to let their hitting coach Hunter Mense find other work as he is now an assistant hitting coach for the Kansas City Royals. The move was a little surprising since the offense wasn’t the primary issue with the 2026 teams but coaching turnover should be expected after such a bad year.
San Francisco may not be done making changes to the coaching staff either as Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area wrote on social media of the Mense news: “Giants are looking for a new hitting coach, and sounds like it won’t be the only change to their staff.”
He did not elaborate at all but he’s obviously plugged into the team so expect some more changes to come although they may not be major ones as the Giants already made some adjustments with their pitching coaches.
Tristan Beck to the KBO
The Giants made a lot of roster moves to get their 40-man roster in order and one of the guys let go was pitcher Tristan Beck. While he was solid at times for the Giants over the last few years, he was just never quite consistent enough to stick at the big league level.
Still, the Stanford product found a new team pretty quickly as he was signed by the LG Twins of the KBO to a one-year, $878,000 deal. There was also a heartwarming picture posted on social media of Beck hanging out with Jung Hoo Lee in South Korea so it’s nice to see that the two former teammates got to meet up.

Best of luck to Tristan in the KBO!
Victor Bericoto is tearing up the Venezuelan Winter League
Over in the Venezuelan Winter League, Giants outfielder Victor Bericoto is really impressing with his bat. In 14 games he is hitting .389/.522/.700 with three home runs and 18 runs batted in.

While he may not be going against the strongest competition necessarily, it’s still a positive sign to see him hitting the ball well especially since there is a good chance he will factor into the team’s outfield equation somehow next season.
Perhaps we will get more news soon if there indeed are further coaching changes or the Giants start to sign some players, but these are the bigger news nuggets for now.
