SF Giants fans could do nothing but watch in disgust as the Los Angeles Dodgers won their second consecutive World Series. There were so many chances for the Toronto Blue Jays to slay Goliath but they just could not do it.
Giants legend Will Clark sounded off on one of the biggest mistakes made by the Blue Jays. In the 9th inning the Blue Jays had a one-run lead but allowed a game-tying solo home run to Miguel Rojas. Clark's NSFW tirade on the pitch sequence that led to Rojas hitting that home run can be viewed here.
SF Giants legend Will Clark rips Blue Jays pitcher for World Series mistake
Without quoting Clark because he was dropping expletives basically every other word, he took issue with pitcher Jeff Hoffman laying a hanging slider in the zone on a 3-2 count when Rojas was having trouble keeping up with the fastball.
Clark was basically pleading that Hoffman go with his heater and try to blow Rojas away rather than throw something soft in the zone only to watch it get belted.
It is easy to look back after the fact and say the Blue Jays should have done this or that, but there were so many moments where they could have come through and emerged as the champions.
In Game 6 if new Giant Justin Dean does not throw his hands up when the ball got lodged under the center field fence or if that ball does not get lodged, maybe the Blue Jays find a way to win that game.
If Dodgers catcher Will Smith's foot drifted off home plate for just a little longer in the bottom of the ninth inning in Game 7 and the runner sliding home had scored, maybe we hare having a different conversation.
There are so many what-if scenarios and different ways things could have played out. It is just so frustrating that so many breaks seemed to go the way of the Dodgers when clearly they do not need any additional help with their stacked roster.
Clark is never afraid to speak his mind and it is always refreshing to see him put things so bluntly in a way only he can.
Now, the Giants must begin the hard work of assembling a winning roster under their new manager to try and challenge the supremacy of a Dodgers team that will be looking for its third straight World Series title in 2026.
