On Friday, MLB Pipeline updated its final top-100 prospect list of the year. Middle infielder Josuar Gonzalez headlined a group of five SF Giants prospects to make the cut and was recognized as one of the top-10 prospects in baseball.

The Giants had healthy representation on the list. Gonzalez was followed by Luis Hernández and Jackson Flora at No. 25 and No. 28, respectively. Jhonny Level came in at No. 43, followed by Ramon Marquez at No. 94.

The current top-prospect list is heavy on position players, so Flora is currently viewed as one of the top pitching prospects in baseball. In fact, he is viewed as the No. 3 right-handed pitcher, behind only Seth Hernandez of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Ryan Sloan of the Seattle Mariners.

Heading into the summer, pitching depth in the farm system was a clear weak spot. The Giants addressed that by targeting pitching early in the draft, including Flora, Carson Bolemon, and Kaden Waechter. They added to that group by acquiring Ramon Marquez from the Philadelphia Phillies at the trade deadline.

Jhonny Level continued his ascent up the prospect list and minor league ladder. After putting together an impressive summer in the Arizona Complex League (ACL) in 2025, he followed that up with a strong stint in the California League before moving up to the Northwest League.

Luis Hernández joined the Giants as an international free agent earlier this year. His $5 million signing bonus represented one of the largest investments the club has made through that channel. The Giants felt comfortable having Hernández skip the Dominican Summer League. He posted a .917 OPS with six home runs and 45 RBI in 228 plate appearances in the ACL before moving up to the San Jose Giants and finishing the year on the injured list.

SF Giants prospect thrived against older competition on his way to becoming a top-10 prospect

Josuar Gonzalez led the way for the Giants. The boost comes after a strong season that began in the ACL and finished in the California League. In 153 plate appearances with San Jose, he put up a 1.010 OPS with three home runs and 35 RBI. He also flashed the speed, as he tallied six triples and 13 stolen bases. Despite only appearing in 31 games, he finished second on the team in triples, behind only Andy Polanco, who had nine.

Similar to Level, Gonzalez thrived against older and more advanced competition. I cannot remember an 18-year-old Giants player performing the way that Gonzalez did. It felt like he did something that drew your attention on the baseball field, whether it was showing impressive range at shortstop or scoring from first base on a single.

Gonzalez also becomes the highest rated Giants prospect since Buster Posey and Madison Bumgarner. Baseball America had Bumgarner at No. 9 prior to the 2009 season, and Posey at No. 7 before the 2010 season.
