SF Giants fans have had to watch the Los Angeles Dodgers win two straight World Series titles and to make matters worse, Blake Snell helped LA win last season after spending 2024 with the Giants. Now, he is whining again and fans can't help but laugh.
Snell reportedly delayed the start of his offseason throwing program because he was "exhausted" after the World Series last year. If that doesn't make your eyes roll so hard that they pop out of your head, I'm not sure what will.
Ex-SF Giants pitcher Blake Snell complains of exhaustion after World Series
Let's go through the numbers, shall we? Snell threw 61 and 1/3 innings in the regular season last year. Then he threw 34 innings in the postseason to get him just over 100 innings on the year.
Let's compare that to his teammate Yoshinobu Yamamoto who threw 173 and 2/3 innings in the 2025 regular season and then 37 and 1/3 innings in the playoffs including 2 and 2/3 innings on no rest in Game 7.
While we're at it, Madison Bumgarner threw 217 and 1/3 regular season innings in 2014 and followed that up with 52 and 2/3 playoff innings including a five-inning save in Game 7 of the World Series on two days of rest after throwing a complete game shutout in Game 5. Absolute legend.
Snell is just incredibly soft when compared to the likes of Bumgarner. Everyone knows how good Snell can be on the mound when he is right. In the second half of 2024 with San Francisco he was absolutely dominant and threw a no-hitter.
But, it is worth mentioning that Snell gave up a combined 10 earned runs in his Game 1 and Game 5 starts of last year's World Series and then blamed it on bad luck. That sort of deflection of blame is not what one would customarily expect from an ace but that's just the way Snell rolls.
This post below pretty perfectly captures how everyone views Snell:
“hey Snell you good to go in the 9th”

Maybe he stays up all night playing video games and that's why he's so tired. Or maybe he's just a little bit lazy.
Either way, the Dodgers are so ridiculously loaded that is doesn't even really matter if Snell pitches the first half of the year. He can roll out of bed in August and use the last few months of the season to get ready for the playoffs which is basically what he did in 2025.
At this point, all we can do as Giants fans is laugh at the Death Star behemoth that has been created in LA and at least Snell is providing us with some gallows humor before the Giants try to break .500.
