Over the last few years, San Francisco Giants FanFest has brought people out in droves. With the team bringing in big names and being the only team in the Bay Area, the people showed up.
This is especially true when the tour came to Napa and the Napa Yard at Oxbow Gardens in 2025. But in 2026, the Giants won’t return to Napa on their FanFest tour.
SF Giants FanFest not returning to Napa in 2026
In December of 2025, the Giants announced stops in Sacramento, San Jose, and San Ramon to go along with the normal finale at Oracle Park. Notably missing is a trip to Napa, and people certainly took notice.
While it’s not known why FanFest won’t be back in Napa, I have to say I’m disappointed that it’s not. I also hope this is just a one-year hiatus because the North Bay showed up both times the event happened in downtown Napa. It’s also very possible that the dates just didn’t work for Napa or the Giants this year, despite both sides' best efforts.
The thing that I liked about FanFest was the fact that there was always something to do, no matter where you’re at. The rotation also made it to where you couldn’t miss a chance to see, take a photo, or get an autograph from your favorite player.
Another part of FanFest that always stood out was the live interviews happening. It always featured great previews of the team from KNBR personalities. The interviews always had a way of bringing people to the stage and chat with other fans about the Giants many topics of conversation.
But maybe the best part of it was the fact that the local restaurants were open and it helped all of Napa with the event. The area around the Oxbow is a very centrally located area with some of Napa’s best eats. After all, the Oxbow and the area around it is known for hosting numerous events in Napa all year. During events like FanFest, these local businesses got good business, especially in a time when tourism is a tad bit slower than the summer months.
Now, that is a lot. But honestly, my favorite part of the event is walking around the packed Oxbow Gardens area and running into other locals that I know. This event has been sort of a kickoff to the local baseball season. I’ve run into players and families on the local high school teams of which I cover during the spring. It has served as an event to get to know the very players I cover on a hole another level because Giants baseball is more than just baseball, it’s about the community it creates.
It sure is a bummer that FanFest won’t be back in Napa this year for sure. Hopefully, we won’t be disappointed by this again in 2027.
