On Sunday, Patrick Bailey and Logan Webb were recognized as Gold Glove winners at catcher and pitcher, respectively. The SF Giants duo became the first batterymates to win the award in the same season since Yadier Molina and Adam Wainwright in 2013, per Sarah Langs of MLB.Com.

The St. Louis Cardinals duo also achieved that mark in 2009. Last month, Bailey and Webb were announced as finalists for the award. By that point, the voting had already taken place, so there was no additional voting to select the winner among the finalists.

For Bailey, this is the third year in which he was a finalist, and the second straight year he took home the award. He becomes the first Giants player to do so in consecutive seasons since Brandon Crawford. Crawford won the award at shortstop for three straight years beginning in 2015.

Along with revealing the winners, the SABR Defensive Index (SDI) was updated through the remainder of the year. The metric accounts for about 25 percent of the vote for the Gold Glove Award.

Bailey led all MLB position players with 17.4 SDI. Among NL catchers, Luis Torrens of the New York Mets was second with 9.4 SDI.

The young Giants catcher also excelled in every facet of catching, especially in pitch framing. The defensive metrics also rated him as an elite defensive catcher. He led all catchers with 19 Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) and comfortably led all position players with 31 Fielding Run Value (FRV). Alejandro Kirk of the Toronto Blue Jays and Ceddanne Rafaela of the Boston Red Sox were tied for second with 22 FRV.

On the other hand, Logan Webb led all NL pitchers with 4.8 SDI. One underrated metric in which Webb excelled was holding runners on base. According to Baseball Savant, Webb posted 5 Net Bases Prevented, which was one of the better marks in baseball. This is the first time Webb has taken home the award.

Along with Bailey's Gold Glove Award, he was also recognized as Sports Info Solution's Fielding Bible Award winner at catcher and Defensive Player of the Year. The next step for him could be a Platinum Glove Award, which is voted on by the fans.
