The Los Angeles Dodgers lineup could add, well, yet another star this offseason. Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports that the SF Giants rivals have interest in adding superstar outfielder Juan Soto.

Heyman maintains that the New York Yankees and New York Mets are seen as the favorites to land Soto. However, the Dodgers seemingly have an unlimited supply of money, making them a player for any major free agent. Could they convince the four-time All-Star to come back out west?

The timing of this rumor is palpable. When it comes to Scott Boras' clients, it is well known that Heyman is typically relaying these rumors straight from the superagent himself. With the Dodgers taking a commanding 3-0 advantage in the World Series, Boras is trying to use this matchup to up the ante.

He will easily be able to leverage both the Yankees and Mets' interest to create a bidding war for Soto. However, bringing the Dodgers into the discussion would add an entirely new dynamic. No team wants to see Soto in a Dodgers uniform for the next decade, so interested teams will put forth an aggressive offer to avoid that from happening.

That said, Boras will leverage every angle he can to get the biggest offer possible for Soto. Even if the lefty bat enjoys his time in New York, his agent will create a narrative that a team like the Dodgers or even the Giants could be a legitimate suitor. This is what a good agent does and no one is better than Boras at getting his clients paid.

There is no denying that the Dodgers will try to lure Soto away from New York. Every big-market club should be in the mix and this bodes well for the young outfielder.

Of course, it does not hurt that Soto is hitting free agency at the perfect time. He slashed .288/.419/.569 (180 wRC+) with 41 home runs, 109 RBI, and 128 runs in 713 plate appearances during his age-25 season. There are plenty of peak years in front of him and one of the many details that makes him such an appealing target.

When it is all said and done, Soto will land a historic contract. Whether the Dodgers have legitimate interest or not remains to be seen but free agency has not even begun yet and Boras seems to already be pitting the two World Series teams against one another for another matchup.
