The SF Giants have been struggling with starting pitching depth as of late, but they could potentially get a boost to their rotation down the stretch as Landen Roupp is throwing bullpen sessions and could potentially return by the end of the year.
According to Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area on social media, Roupp threw a bullpen session yesterday:

SF Giants could get Landen Roupp back before the end of the season
Not only that, but Carson Whisenhunt and Erik Miller are also making progress as they try to return from injury so the Giants could potentially get some players back who seemed like they were going to be shut down for the rest of the season when the playoffs seemed out of reach.
San Francisco moved up their aces Logan Webb and Robbie Ray for the series against the Los Angeles Dodgers for a reason. They simply do not have confidence in any of their young starters beyond Webb, Ray, and Justin Verlander which is why the news on Roupp is so encouraging.
Roupp went down with a scary knee injury last month in San Diego which looked like it had the potential to be a major injury that could impact his 2026 season. Thankfully, the Giants got some good news on Roupp as it was revealed he only suffered a bone bruise rather than some sort of torn ligament.
Obviously the Giants do not want to rush him back, but with the team just a half game back of the New York Mets in the NL Wild Card race it would be huge if they had one more starter who they had a little more confidence in who could make just one start and give them three to five solid innings.
Not to get ahead of ourselves, but it would be huge to have Roupp available in a potential playoff series as that could give the Giants four starters they trust rather than just three.
Roupp was having a great season before he suffered an elbow sprain followed by the knee injury. His last two starts were not great, but his overall numbers on the year are not bad as he has a 3.80 ERA in 22 starts.
We will see how he progresses in his return from injury, but with the playoffs seeming like a legit possibility the Giants would surely love to have Roupp on the mound for them these last few weeks of the season.
