Maybe these two Yankees will be coming to the West Coast.

The New York Yankees just got bounced from the playoffs and they have a number of potential free agents. Two in particular could fill key needs for the SF Giants as they try to add some talent this offseason.

San Francisco needs to strengthen the bullpen this offseason and needs to address right field. They could bring back some familiar faces to fill those holes, but they could also opt to bring in two shiny free agents in Cody Bellinger and Devin Williams.

The expectation is that Bellinger will opt out of his contract which will allow him to hit free agency. The former Dodger put up very solid numbers in 2025. He slashed .272/.334/.480 with 29 home runs and 98 runs batted in.

Bellinger spent most of his time in 2025 as a corner outfielder. If the Giants signed him, he would most likely play either left field or right field but he is a solid center fielder as well and can play first base.

The Giants need to make an addition to the corner outfield because even though Drew Gilbert and Luis Matos showed promise, neither was consistent enough to be a regular starter for the team. Bellinger would do a lot to solidify the outfield and would add a big bat in the middle of the order.

San Francisco's bullpen was depleted by injuries and the trade deadline. By the end of the season the team was having trouble consistently closing out games which is why addressing the bullpen is going to be key.

The Yankees traded for closer Devin Williams last offseason hoping he could solidify their bullpen but he struggled in pinstripes to the tune of a 4.79 ERA in 62 innings.

It was a bit bizarre considering the reliever had a collective 1.89 ERA over the last four seasons in 195 innings pitched, but maybe it was a weird anomaly of a season.

Both Bellinger and Williams have expressed an interest in returning to the Yankees, but Bellinger could want to return to the West Coast and Williams seems like he would benefit from a fresh start somewhere else.

The Giants are in a position to spend money on free agents so if Buster Posey wants to make some splashes he could add these two former Yankees to plug two of the major holes on the team.
