The baseball season is over for the SF Giants, but a few minor leaguers continue to play. The Arizona Fall League (AFL) is underway, where the Scottsdale Scorpions are off to a strong 5-1 start.

SF Giants AFL notes: Dakota Jordan's speedy home run, Drake George's return

1. Dakota Jordan's flashes his speed on home run

Jordan tallied his first home run of the fall. It came on a low-hanging liner that the opposing center fielder could not scoop up and kicked past him into the vast outfield grass of Scottsdale Stadium. Jordan got to flash his speed. MLB Pipeline provided a video of the hit.

The Giants' outfield prospect missed time in 2026, and his AFL assignment is trying to make up for lost time. He has already collected 25 plate appearances, which is near the top in the league. Jordan has tallied three hits, including that home run, with six RBI in 20 at-bats.

When the Giants drafted Jordan in the fourth round of the 2024 draft, he had above-average speed but that had not yet translated to becoming a base-stealing threat. Since he joined pro ball, he has been more aggresive on the base paths, recording at least 20 steals in each of the past two seasons.

The Giants had a handful of players post 20-20 seasons, but Jordan was just one home run shy. The AFL season is technically a different season, but the home run represents his 20th long ball of 2026, to go along with 22 steals.

2. Drake George's return from Tommy John surgery

If you blinked you might have missed Drake George's first AFL appearance. He pitched on Wednesday for the Scorpions and completed one inning, needing only five pitches.

George was sidelined for the entire 2026 season after undergoing Tommy John surgery at the end of 2025. He looked to be back to normal, as his fastball sat in the mid 90's and he flashed a very high-spin slider, which might have actually been his curveball.

The Giants drafted George in the 13th round of the 2024 draft out of Lewis-Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho. He helped anchor a strong San Jose Giants rotation in 2025, where he posted a 3.20 ERA with 62 strikeouts and 15 walks in 56.1 frames before landing on the injured list.

The right-handed pitcher offers a good mix of stuff and control. He throws from a high arm slot from the right side. He relies primarily on his fastball and breaking ball, but will mix in a changeup occasionally. The curveball is a legitimate swing-and-miss pitch. It gets 12-to-6 movement, and at times, it shows a good bit of armside movement.
