The rich keep getting richer. No, this has nothing to do with free agency and the division rival Los Angeles Dodgers plucking away more of the top players on the market. This has to do with the World Baseball Classic and the pitching staff growing in numbers. For Team USA, more arms are beginning to confirm they will pitch and one of them is SF Giants Ace Logan Webb

SF Giants ace Logan Webb to Pitch for Team USA at WBC

It’s a tremendous honor to get to play the sport you love and aim to win a championship. It’s another to play the sport you love and represent your country at the same time. Players are amped up for the World Baseball Classic and fans should too. Baseball got blessed with one of the best moments in 2023, as we saw Shohei Ohtani strike out Mike Trout and see Japan defeat Team USA.

When looking back at that team, pitching is what was lacking. When you look back at that rotation, it was led by Adam Wainwright, Lance Lynn, Nick Martinez, and Merrill Kelly. Those guys have had respectable careers, but the upside that USA has now is top notch.

The one downside is that the event takes place in March which means Webb and other potential participants from the Giants will miss part of spring training.

Webb gets to join the long list of top tier arms. He is coming off one of the best seasons in his career, as he had a 3.22 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. Also, he finished with a 26.2 K%, which placed him in the top 15 amongst qualified starters in 2025. Nobody pitched more innings than Webb in 2025 and he is the bonafide stallion for the Giants.

He won’t be the only Giant to represent at the WBC. Willy Adames, Rafael Devers, Jung-Hoo Lee, and Heliot Ramos are expected to represent their nations as well.

When you look back at the recent World Baseball Classics, the upside that this pitching staff blows those out of the water. In 2017, it was Sonny Gray, Chris Archer, and Marcus Stroman highlighting a rotation for Team USA. We’ve already mentioned the 2023 rotation and Webb helps highlight an elite crop of talent.

The two CY Young Winners in Paul Skenes and Tarik Skubal highlight this rotation. Joe Ryan, a guy who has been a rumored trade hope for the Giants, also is confirmed, as well as Mets top prospect Nolan McLean. There is a lot of swing and miss in this rotation and loaded with strikeouts. Webb becomes the next dynamic piece and rounds out this electrifying group.

The bullpen is even deeper, highlighted by Mason Miller, David Bednar, Griffin Jax, and Garrett Whitlock. It’s going to be very special watching Team USA and what these arms bring to the table.

Gear up Giants fans, our ace takes the center stage.
