Evidently, Logan Webb ate his Wheaties before making his Cactus League debut on Tuesday. The SF Giants ace temporarily broke Statcast with a fastball that clocked in at 111.8 MPH.

You read that right. Webb threw a fastball that registered 111.8 MPH. Statcast quickly corrected itself, but the evidence is now in the ether. This would not be the first time that a Giants player broke Statcast.

Webb completed two scoreless innings in a 4-1 victory over the A's. He tallied four strikeouts, and his fastball averaged 92.7 MPH. That is right in line with his 92.6 MPH average velocity with his sinker from last season.

While Webb is getting ready for the season, his spring training in a Giants uniform will be condensed. He will head to the World Baseball Classic (WBC) in the first week of March to represent Team USA.

The veteran hurler is slated to make two starts in the WBC. Once that tournament concludes, he will head back to Arizona for the final couple of weeks of Cactus League play. Webb is expected to take the ball on Opening Day for the Giants against the New York Yankees on March 25.

It would mark Webb's fifth Opening Day start for the Giants. He would surpass Tim Lincecum in that category and move into a tie with Madison Bumgarner for second place in franchise history. Hall of Famer Juan Marichal leads the franchise in that category, with 10 Opening Day starts.

Webb has established himself as one of the most durable starting pitchers in baseball. He has led the NL in innings pitched in each of the past three seasons.

The 2025 campaign was no different. The 29-year-old pitcher registered a 3.22 ERA, 2.60 FIP, 1.23 WHIP, 9.7 K/9, and a 4.87 SO/W rate across 207 innings. He also reached the increasingly rare milestone of making more than 32 starts in a season.

With the signings of Adrian Houser and Tyler Mahle, the Giants have added more veteran depth to the rotation. They will be joined by Webb, Robbie Ray, and Landen Roupp. Outside of Webb, this is not the most durable group, and they will need to fill the gaps with some of their younger starters.

In the meantime, Webb gave everyone something to laugh it by throwing quite literally the fastball pitch in baseball history... until it was corrected.
