SF Giants infielder Christian Koss had a very promising rookie campaign. It seems he took a liking to the back of his jersey because he apparently got a tattoo of his name on his back with the same font styling as his Giants jersey.

A picture of this purported tattoo can be seen here on social media in a screenshot from a fan as it appears to have been originally posted on Koss's Instagram account.

The tattoo artist who got Koss his new ink shared it on their Instagram and the full video process can be viewed here.

It is a pretty cool tattoo and shows just how much it meant for Koss to finally make it to the big leagues. The 27-year-old toiled away for years in the minor leagues and finally got his shot with the Giants after an impressive spring in 2025. He also apparently has a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles tattoo which is just plain cool.

He took full advantage of his opportunity in 2025, filling in nicely as needed at second base and third base while showing off his contact-first approach at the plate. In 76 games with San Francisco he slashed .264/.309/.368 with three home runs and 23 runs batted in.

Those numbers do not fly off the page, but when you factor in the solid defense he provides in the infield as well as his above-average speed he is clearly a valuable player for the Giants to have going forward.

Matt Chapman and Willy Adames are going to be the everyday starters at third base and shortstop respectively if they are healthy, but with both players now on the wrong side of 30 it would not be surprising if they see more time on the IL in the coming years. If that is the case, Koss is the exact kind of player it is nice to have who can fill in and provide serviceable defense while also being able to have good at-bats at the plate.

Casey Schmitt figures to be the starting second baseman going into next year, but if he regresses Koss is a guy who the Giants would probably be comfortable with at second base.

He also proved he can be a pretty solid pitcher when games get out of hand which is a nice feather in his cap and shows he can help save the bullpen a little bit.

Koss figures to be a solid depth piece going forward in the mold of a Matt Duffy. He is one of those scrappy players every team needs who does the little things right and may not quite be good enough to be an everyday starter but can fill in as necessary.

His tattoo cements the fact that he came into the big leagues with the Giants, and if he can build upon his strong rookie season he could be with the Giants for a while.
