After several SF Giants players chose to protest the team's Pride Night a few weeks ago, the front office has been quiet on the matter. That changed on Tuesday when president of baseball operations Buster Posey addressed the media, but he made sure this controversy is not going anywhere anytime soon.
Posey issued a brief statement on the controversy to reporters and then said he only wanted to answer "baseball-related questions." The reporters followed up again and again on the issue, asking Posey about it and one reporter really hammered home why Posey needed to be forthcoming on the matter.
The reporter said: "You guys have made this baseball-related because you had Pride Night," before delving into how MLB said the Giants basically mishandled their communication with the players prior to the protest.
Very tense moment between Buster Posey and the press when questioned about the Giants pride hats and their players.

Through it all, Posey continued to say he was only answering baseball-related questions and did not comment on the matter any further. By doing so he has backed himself and the organization into a corner.
Posey's silence ensures Giants' Pride Night controversy is here to stay
Posey can do what he wants, but if he thinks that this press conference is going to do anything to make fans who were upset about what those four players did on Pride Night and the team's subsequent response, or lack thereof, then he is sorely mistaken.
Perhaps Posey does not feel equipped to address such a sensitive subject, but he could have done a heck of a lot more to make people feel better by saying something like, "I understand that people were upset about what happened and that there are differring opinions on the matter, but I just want to let people know that everyone is welcome and should feel included at Giants games." Mike Krukow was at least willing to speak out on the matter.
There will always be people who are upset and people who think more should be said or done but the fact that Posey is trying to sidestep the issue completely is just such a bad look for him and the organization.
The fact that this comes right after the Rafael Devers incident on Sunday, another bad look that makes the organization look foolish, shows that things are somewhat in disarray with this franchise.
Pretty much everyone is unhappy. The players, the fans, the front office. This is not a happy or joyful time to be a Giants fan.
Posey may want to focus on baseball-related matters but I don't know how much he's watched this team because they aren't very fun to think, talk, or write about. To pretend that the other stuff does not matter or is not worth him commenting on it is just a really strange choice and ensures that this issue is going to be around and talked about even longer.
