MLB Pipeline published its top-30 prospect lists for every organization this week. For the SF Giants, Bryce Eldridge and Carson Whisenhunt led the way with the top two spots. They were followed by recent international signing and middle infield prospect Josuar Gonzalez.

Recent international signing comes in at No. 3 on SF Giants top-30 prospect list

Outfield prospect James Tibbs III and young middle infielder Jhonny Level rounded out the top-5 spots for the Giants on this list. There were not many surprises.

Outfielder Bo Davidson came in at No. 9 after signing as an undrafted free agent in 2023. He had a strong year with the San Jose Giants, slashing .328/.438/.608 (173 wRC+) with nine home runs, 40 RBI, and 40 runs in 226 plate appearances.

Davidson was a college bat and is on the older side for the California League, so the true test will be how he performs once he gets to the upper minors. That could happen as soon as this year if he hits anywhere close to how he did last year. He will likely begin the season with the Eugene Emeralds.

Infield prospect Walker Martin saw a notable drop, coming in at No. 22 after being an overslot second-round pick in 2023. Martin posted a .753 OPS with eight home runs and 38 RBI in 312 plate appearances split between two levels last year. This included a 41 percent strikeout rate. He did not face a ton of advanced competition in high school and sustained a back injury his senior year, so the Giants were aware that he is a bit of a project.

In a mild surprise, Diego Velasquez came in at No. 15 despite a strong year in Double-A. The switch-hitting infielder registered a .313/.389/.374 line (125 wRC+) with one home run and 14 RBI in 170 plate appearances with the Richmond Flying Squirrels in his age-20 season. Velasquez does not hit for much power but sprays line drives all over the field. He has average range but could profile as a bat-first second baseman whose value will be tied to his batting average. You could make the case that he could be one or two spots higher.

Josuar Gonzalez came in at No. 3 after earning a signing bonus of nearly $3 million two months ago. He is expected to make his pro debut later this summer so this ranking is based on raw tools that include speed, defense, and power.

This prospect list does highlight how the Giants' top prospects will be on the younger side assuming that Bryce Eldridge and Carson Whisenhunt graduate in 2025. Gonzalez is joined by Jhonny Level and Rayner Arias as Giants prospects under 20 who offer some of the highest upside of any player in the organization.
