No matter how the season finishes for top SF Giants prospect Bryce Eldridge, this has been a successful one. The 19-year-old prospect earned a late-season promotion to Double-A after going on a tear in High-A.

Roger Munter of There R Giants was the first to confirm the move. In a corresponding transaction, outfield prospect Vaun Brown was transferred to the development list.

Brown had a strong 2022 campaign where he posted a 1.059 OPS with 23 home runs and 44 stolen bases across three levels, including Double-A. However, he has battled injuries and ineffectiveness over the past two seasons. Perhaps, the most alarming number is that he has struck out in 39 percent of his plate appearances since the start of 2023.

On the other hand, Eldridge was putting up numbers in Eugene that were just impossible to ignore. He very much earned the promotion to Double-A to finish the year.

Overall, he has registered a .294/.378/.538 line with 22 home runs and 86 RBI in 447 plate appearances split across two levels. This includes a 1.060 OPS in 215 plate appearances with Eugene before his promotion.

The left-handed bat was on an absurd tear, slashing .383/.479/.798 with 10 homers and 26 RBI since the start of August. He had also recorded a home run in four of his final six games with the Emeralds.

Eldridge now becomes one of the youngest position players in the Eastern League this season. The advanced pitching, wet climate, and large ballpark dimensions tend to be a tough challenge for many power hitters, so this should be a good learning experience.

On a different note, Eldridge's new teammate, Diego Velasquez, is also one of the younger players in that league. The switch-hitter has done a nice job with a .737 OPS with one home run and 18 RBI in 132 plate appearances.

For Eldridge, he is one step closer to San Francisco. There is a good chance that he receives a camp invite next year and could be a candidate to be called up by the Giants before the end of next year if all goes according to plan.
