Young SF Giants outfielder reaches impressive milestone on Sunday
This young outfielder continues to impress in his breakout season.
The SF Giants are continuing to play a disappointing brand of .500 baseball but they still have bright spots on their team. For instance, on Sunday Heliot Ramos blasted the 20th home run of what has been an incredible season for him.
The home run was the second of the series for Ramos. On Friday Ramos hit an absolute bomb that went 429 feet to the upper deck against the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park. Then on Sunday he blasted a two-run shot in the first inning which was his 20th home run of the year. He joined Matt Chapman as the second Giant to reach the 20 home-run mark this season which is always nice to see.
Not only that, but Ramos became the youngest Giant to hit 20 homers in a season since Pablo Sandoval did it back in 2011. This is just further evidence that Ramos is having an incredible breakout season.

It is important to remember that injuries to other players were the only reason Ramos got a shot this season. Injuries led to him being called up in May and Jung Hoo Lee's season-ending injury gave him his shot to be an everyday player for the team. He hit the cover off the ball which earned him an All-Star nod and definitely makes him seem like the left fielder of the future for the team. Perhaps he can finally be the one to break the Barry Bonds curse of having a different starting left fielder every Opening Day since Bonds' last year in 2007. He would have to do it in both 2025 and 2026 though, so maybe we shouldn't count our chickens just yet.
The Giants have been so disappointing this year that is is hard to find a lot to get excited about. Ramos and Tyler Fitzgerald are those two bright spots on offense that at least provide a glimmer of hope for the future. The Giants are a .500 team right now, but maybe Ramos will be a key part of the next Giants team that reaches the postseason. He is just 24 years old, so we can hope that this is just the beginning of his long and storied career with the Giants.
