The SF Giants dropped the final two games of the series over the weekend against the Cleveland Guardians. They will look to get back in the win column with Blake Snell on the mound.

Snell has not pitched in over a month after sustaining a groin strain against the New York Yankees at the beginning of June. That turned out to be his second trip on the injured list.

This has been a frustrating season for the left-handed hurler. He signed so late in the offseason that it is fair to wonder if he was even ready when he made his 2024 debut in the second week of April. Overall, he has struggled to a 9.51 ERA with 31 strikeouts over 14 walks in 23.2 frames with San Francisco. It feels like every start he makes is a crucial one because the Giants are eager to see something closer to the pitcher who recorded a 2.25 ERA in 32 starts just last season.

Who it hot?

Michael Conforto can be a streaky hitter, but he seems to be entering one of his hot streaks. The left-handed bat has four hits, including three doubles and a home run, with six RBI in 11 at-bats over the past three games. When his bat gets going, he can carry an offense.

Who are the SF Giants facing?

The Giants are facing off against Yusei Kikuchi. The left-handed hurler has tallied a 4.12 ERA, 3.62 FIP, 1.30 WHIP, 9.4 K/9, and a 4.26 SO/W ratio in 18 starts with the Blue Jays in 2024. Kikuchi has faced the Giants once before, allowing three earned runs in six innings of work.
